Before embarking on a programme of SRI communications, all companies should establish their current status with SRI investors and identify which investors are likely to be most interested in their sustainability performance.  A basic review should seek to establish:

  • The level of SRI interest of the company’s top 20 investors
  • Which of the leading segregated SRI funds do and don’t hold the company’s shares
  • An updated contacts register of individual analysts* who cover the company to include:
    • Buy-side analysts and portfolio managers
    • Sell-side analysts
    • Ratings agency analysts
  • Whether the company is included in the relevant SRI/sustainability indices
  • The company’s ratings from different SRI agencies
